The Baron & Chestney Real Estate Map-Based search page enables you
to search the four MLS's (Multiple Listing Services) that represent
the 10 San Francisco Bay Area counties that are covered by Baron &
Chestney Real Estate discount brokers. The counties of San Mateo,
Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz (as well as Monterey) are covered by the
RE InfoLink MLS. The counties of Alameda and Contra Costa are
covered by the MaxEbrdi MLS. The counties of Marin, Sonoma, Napa,
and Solano are covered by the BAREIS MLS. Lastly, the self-contained
city and county of San Francisco is covered by its own MLS, the
SFARMLS. Traditionally, the different MLS services in the San
Francisco bay area have attempted to remain independent of each
other, just as the local boards of realtors have. However, as is the
case with so many aspects of the real estate industry, the changing
needs and demands of consumers, as well as the constant advances in
technology, have been pressuring the industry to change and to make
data more readily accessible to home buyers and home sellers. Just
as the discount real estate brokerage movement has begun to
gradually pressure the industry to change by exposing (and offering
an alternative to) the "smoke and mirrors" real estate industry
"parlor tricks" that have perpetuated the old 6% real estate
commission model for decades by keeping the public uneducated, in
the dark, and bamboozled, there has also been recent cooperation
among MLS services and local real estate boards towards making MLS
data available to the public. In the old days, the real estate
industry was "protected" by real estate agents and real estate
brokers controlling the MLS data. However, the demands of a more
educated, more demanding public for this data, along with the
technology to now make it readily available, has brought about
positive change in the real estate industry. Most MLS sites now have
a "public access" search area, which allows for searching of the MLS
listings by non-licensed people. Keep in mind that certain
confidential information about each real estate listing will of
course remain available only to licensed realtors (names of owners,
phone numbers, gate codes, alarm codes, etc.), which is entirly
reasonable and understandable for security, safety, and privacy
purposes, of course. However, using the search features on this
page, any member of the public can search, for free, all of the
active listings of homes for sale currently on the MLS, throughout
the entire San Francisco bay area. (For information about PENDING
listings, or information about CONTINGENT listings, or information
about SOLD listings, please contact a Baron & Chestney Real Estate
discount realtor, as this information is NOT public on the MLS
systems, either). One of our discount real estate brokers will be
happy to assist you, however.
Instructions:
Just go ahead and search away! Have fun using this amazing map-based
search feature. Please use the appropriate MLS for the desired San
Francisco bay area county (and/or city) that you wish to search. If
you do not know the county in which a particular city is located,
please scroll down to the bottom of the page to reference a
convenient and complete list of all of the cities that Baron &
Chestney Real Estate discount brokers cover in the San Francisco Bay
Area (or districts / neighborhoods, in the case of San Francisco
City and County proper), as well as their corresponding counties.
The PHOTO GALLERY section of our website features a description (and
lots of photos) of each county, city, town, district, neighborhood,
and unincorporated area that Baron & Chestney Real Estate discount
realtors cover, for your information and convenience. These search
features are map-based, utilizing the latest and greatest in search
technology. We hope you enjoy your search experience. Again, please
do not hesitate to contact a Baron & Chestney Real Estate discount
real estate broker for personalized, professional assistance,
especially as you begin to narrow your search, and whenever you wish
to go visit some of the listings in person, with a Baron & Chestney
discount broker.
Note: Currently, only the San Francisco MLS has NOT provided
map-based search compatability. This is expected to change by
October of 2009. The "plan" is for all four San Francisco Bay Area
Multiple Listing Services to "cooperate" in the way they share data.
While not quite so lofty a goal as "world peace", we will still be
waiting with appropriately curbed enthusiasm to see if and when this
far-reaching goal is successfully implemented... it's not so much a
technical issue as it is a red tape administrative issue... So, for
the meantime, we have provided search capability in San Francisco
that is not map-based. If and when it becomes available, we will
include it along with the other three MLS's on this page of our
site. One last note -- San Francisco MLS data can still be searched
in a map-based fashion through the OTHER three MLS's. For example,
when we take a listing of a home for sale, we post the listing on
all four bay area MLS sites (as well as many other websites as
well). While this may not represent a complete MAP-BASED search
inventory of what is currently available in San Francisco, a search
of the SFARMLS itself WILL represent a COMPLETE inventory of the
homes currently for sale in San Francisco, and access through the
other three MLS seaches will allow access to the great majority of
such listings in a map-based format. When in doubt, if there is any
information that you need and for whatever reason seem to be having
difficulty finding, simply contact a Baron & Chestney Real Estate
discount realtor and we will be happy to assist.
Now, go find YOUR castle, and then call Baron & Chestney Real Estate
to arrange for one of our discount realty brokers to help you visit
it and then acquire it!
